Local Volunteer Centre Celebrates National Volunteer Week with Annual Awards
The local Volunteer Centre has opened its call for nominations for the annual Volunteers Grow Community Awards to honour Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington residents who make a positive difference in our community.
As part of National Volunteer Week, April 6th through 12th, the spot light will shine on dedicated individuals including youth, families and groups, in celebration of their significant contribution to the community through volunteerism.
Organizations and individuals are invited to nominate volunteers who are active in local not-for-profit organizations. These include charities, agencies, hospitals, schools, sports leagues, religious institutions, community centres, research facilities, long-term-care facilities or cultural groups. Nominees can be selected for their outstanding volunteer efforts in coordinating initiatives, organizing events, mentoring or coaching, providing leadership on Boards, committees, or in celebration of an exceptional length of service.
“We are extremely pleased to publicly recognize the contributions of volunteers each year with these awards, and to have the opportunity to inspire others to make a positive difference in our community,” says Tom Wightman, Chair of the Volunteer Centre Advisory Committee.
Nomination Forms are available at the United Way office at 417 Bagot Street or through their website, www.unitedwaykfla.ca. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, March 19th.
The Volunteers Grow Community Awards and recognition event in KFL&A are being sponsored by Investors Group for the third year in a row.
