Donor-Advised Funds

Donor-Advised Fund

With a Donor-Advised Fund you have an opportunity to maximize the positive impact you make through United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington. Giving through a Donor-Advised Fund is a convenient, tax-efficient way to give back. When you create a Donor-Advised Fund directly with United Way KFL&A, you can:

Name the fund: Set up a fund that may be named. Or you can choose to stay anonymous if that’s what you prefer

Choose how you donate: Make donations through cheque, cash, securities

Receive Tax Benefits: Pay no capital gains on donations of qualified securities and receive a tax receipt for the full fair market value of the securities.

Your impact:  You can make decisions about how you want to impact local needs, or give grants to eligible charities for your lifetime and beyond. You will have access to the United Way’s extensive research into the critical needs of the community, in areas that interest you.

Schedule Donations: You can decide how much you want to grant and when.

Simplify your giving: make charitable giving easier by consolidating giving into one fund

Choose how you disburse your funds: you can decide whether to use the investment income or the capital to fund areas of interest to you.

“It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with the United Way in the form of a donor-advised grant. This donation is in honour of my parents, Nan and Jack Pearson, who worked tirelessly to provide resources for us as children, so that we had what we needed to succeed in school. It is truly gratifying to have the chance to pass this on to children in our community and it has been a pleasure working with the United Way who enabled a seamless setup of this fund and was responsive to my directions for donation. The compassion and dedication of the United Way staff is apparent and I believe the fund will be administered in an efficient and accountable manner.”
