Funding is distributed through three funding streams: The Community Investment Fund (August-September), Partner Agency Funding (October – November) and Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS).
Community Investment Fund
These one-time grants are disbursed through a joint City of Kingston and United Way KFLA fund. These grants encourage innovative and collaborative responses to social needs in our community. There is an annual call for applications in the fall. City of Kingston and United Way provide grants of up to $25,000.

Partner Agency Funding
Through an annual rigorous review process by volunteers who participate in our Citizens Review Panel, United Way allocates ongoing, stable funding to its partner agencies for specific programs. The review process occurs from January through the end of March.
Focus Area Framework
The United Way Focus Area Frameworks serve to deepen our common understanding and support the development of a shared vision for our Brand Focus Areas. The United Way Centraide Canada developed these documents. United Way of KFL&A has extracted information from the original documents to highlight our local impact areas and outcomes.
