Part of Board Governance Series for Board Members and Senior Administrators of Non-Profit Organizations
United Way Leadership Development Services (LDS) is hosting a workshop on Financial Stewardship on Wednesday, March 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ongwanada, 191 Portsmouth Avenue.
Workshop facilitators, Michelle Podhy and Chad McLeod of KPMG, will define the board’s role in maintaining fiscal responsibility and help directors understand and fulfill their oversight function.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Define the oversight role of the board in maintaining fiscal responsibility
- Identify strategies for establishing a budget, monitor and control expenditures
- Read a financial statement and identify critical questions to ask
- Identify required policies and control systems
This workshop is open to board members and executive directors from non-profit organizations in the region. The cost for this workshop is $25 per person and it includes light refreshments. About the Facilitators
Michelle Podhy and Chad McLeod, KPMG: Michelle has over 30 years of public accounting experience, including extensive experience in auditing public sector and not-for-profit organizations. Chad has been an auditor and advisor with KPMG for 4 years, providing client service and assistance to a varying array of organizations ranging in size and spanning multiple sectors.

Leadership Development Services is a United Way initiative, designed to build capacity of local non-profit organizations and help them deal with the ever changing landscape of the voluntary sector.
