United Way of Canada Features Local United Way on Film
Recently released film features United Ways in three communities
The National Office of United Way Centraide Canada selected Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington as one of three communities in Canada to be featured on a national video showcasing its new brand. The new look will communicate that United Ways stand for lasting, measurable change in 115 communities across Canada.
The video is designed to help audiences learn about what United Ways do in their local communities. There are 115 United Ways across Canada. The new brand focuses on three areas: All That Kids Can Be, and Healthy People, Strong Communities and Poverty to Possibility.. The first two focus areas tell the story of community impact work in Chatham-Kent and Halifax. The United Way KFLA story focuses on “Poverty to Possibility” and United Way’s role in developing the Kingston Community Plan on Homelessness and Affordable Housing.
“We are thrilled to be one of the three communities selected, “ said Bhavana Varma, President & CEO, United Way KFLA. “Homelessness is an issue in Kingston, as it is many communities. This video tells the story of how people work together in Kingston to address an issue that impacts so many people.”
According to National Office Marketing and Communications Vice President, Elaine Dean, “Wherever people decide to make change is where change starts. This film highlights how United Ways and their community partners make change happen.”
Manifest Communications of Toronto was commissioned by United Way of Canada to produce the seven-minute video. Local interviews were conducted with John, client, Home Base Housing, Alexis, client, Passage House, Terri Fleming, executive director, Ryandale Shelter for the Homeless, Glen Wood, Chair, Community Leadership Group, Mayor Gerretsen, City of Kingston and Bhavana Varma, President & CEO, United Way KFLA.
