United Way KFL&A Launch Next Gen Initiative
The United Way serving KFL&A is pleased to announce that it is launching a new initiative to target the next generation of donors, volunteers and leaders in the Kingston area.
United Way Next Gen is an initiative that is focused on developing a community of younger stakeholders, ages 25 to 40, and encouraging them to invest their time, energy and money in the community through the United Way.
A Next Gen founding cabinet has been created to help launch the initiative and includes representation from several major workplaces that support the United Way through workplace campaigns.
To celebrate the launch of this initiative, the Next Gen cabinet will be hosting two events this month:
Wednesday, September 21, 2011
Meet and Greet and Pick Up Ball Hockey Game with the Kingston Frontenacs
In partnership with the Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club, Next Gen will be hosting this event in Springer Market Square. The event will take place between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
People of all ages are welcome to bring down their hockey sticks and test their skills against the Frontenacs as well as meet the team and have items signed by players. The Next Gen Cabinet will also be challenging the Frontenacs to a pick-up hockey game.

UNITED WAY NEXT GEN
What is Next Gen?
United Way Next Gen is a new initiative in the KFL&A area focused on developing a community of younger stakeholders, ages 25 to 40, and encouraging them to invest their time, energy and money in the community through the United Way.
Next Gen was started with the intent to engage the members of this group early in life by building a base of future supporters, volunteers and community leaders. This initiative creates opportunities for future leaders to participate in the community and empowers them to support and advance the impact of the United Way in the local community.
The Next Gen movement is a unique opportunity for the next generation to become an integral part of our community and bring about change in areas that are meaningful.
Who can be part of Next Gen?
Enthusiastic and energetic individuals who:
- want to get involved in our community, but don’t know where to start
- want to be the first to hear about the best charity events in the city
- want to be in the know about what’s going on in our community
- want to meet and be inspired by young philanthropists in our city
What’s Next?
United Way Next Gen initiatives have been up and running in different communities across Canada and have positively impacted those who live and work there.
