Media Alert
December 20, 2013
United Way is accepting financial donations on behalf of the City’s behalf for the Fire Relief Fund. Donations can be made with cash, cheque, credit cards, online or by phone.
Funds will be used to help those affected by the fire who may not be able to return to their former residence over the next few months to provide them with the furniture, clothing, or other materials they may need. Staff from Red Cross and Community Services will work along with the United Way on the distribution of the funds to ensure it is used for those most affected and address the highest needs first. Funds will likely be distributed in January and February. More information on the details of accessing these funds by those affected will be available in the new year as soon as it is available.
