Success By 6 Week Supports KFL&A Kids
Record number of events taking place across KFL&A from May 4-12
Kingston, ON (April 29, 2013) – The first six years in a child’s life are the most important. United Way is set to mark its seventh anniversary in KFL&A for Success By 6 Week, with events starting on May 4th, showcasing the importance of early childhood education and care, with an emphasis on “Making KFL&A Child-Friendly”.
The City of Kingston and the Counties of Frontenac and Lennox & Addington have officially proclaimed May 4th to 12th, 2013 as Success By 6 Week.
Success By 6 Week aims to increase public awareness about the importance of early childhood learning. This year, Success by 6 Week is hosting a record 140 no-cost or low-cost activities. These activities encourage families, caregivers, friends and neighbours to “take the time, make the moments matter”.
“Success by 6 Week has grown in popularity over the years. Thank you to our co-chairs, committee and participating organizations for making early years a priority,” says Bhavana Varma, President & CEO, United Way KFL&A.
Several businesses and organizations in the region have come on board with exciting new events this year, offering their space and time to make Success By 6 Week another great event for young children in our community.
This year’s Success By 6 Week will feature various events under 6 categories – physical activities, learning activities, entertainment, environment, drop-ins & play groups and fun activities. Returning favourites include a Story Time with Franklin the Turtle, Dipping for Pond Creatures, free child-friendly movie, free parent and tot swims, and yoga.
