Royal Military College Cadets to Play for United Way
Concert in Scarlets Coming March 17th, 2012
Over 70 performers from Royal Military College cadets will take to the stage to show off their talents during the
college’s annual Concert
in Scarlets, Saturday, March 17th at 2 p.m.
at the Kingston Gospel Temple located at 2295 Princess Street, Kingston.
The show features Brass & Reeds, Stage Band, Pipes & Drums, Highland dancers and Choir performing modern, traditional, military and highland music.
College’s Director of Music, Master Warrant Officer Chris Embree, says the afternoon will be full of diverse pieces of music by Igor Stravinsky, Ennio Morricone, Howard Shore, Mes Aleux, and Van Halen to name a few. Many Stage Band soloists will take the opportunity to play solos in “The Chicken” by Alfred James Ellis. WO Eugene Heather, RMC Drum Major, will take the second part of concert with RMC Pipes & Drums and Highland Dancers. This part will include performances by our best pipers and drummers. Our famous Drum Salute will be done under “black lights”. Our Highland female and male dancers will also amaze you throughout this great second part!
“The cadets have been working extremely hard since January preparing for this concert” says Master Warrant Officer Chris Embree. “To be given the opportunity for the cadets to perform a concert and show case what RMC is all about to the Kingston Public is just awesome. And to know that their efforts will raise much needed funds for the United Way, I can’t think of a better way than through music.”
“We’ve always been able to count on the cadets during our fall fundraising campaign,” says United Way President & CEO Bhavana Varma. “We’re excited that they’ve decided to augment their support through the concert like they did with their Christmas concert. With so much talent on stage, it should be a wonderful afternoon.”
Tickets are available in advance at the United Way, 417 Bagot Street and at the door.
Admission: $10 for adult and seniors; students $5; Children 12 and under Free
In 2011, the event raised $5100 for the United Way KFL&A
