Public Workshop Open To Non-Profit Organizations in KFL&A
Financial Stewardship for Boards of Directors
United Way Leadership Development Services (LDS) will host a public workshop on November 23 for non-profit organizations in KFL&A. The workshop will be held at the Ongwanada Auditorium, 191 Portsmouth Avenue, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Open to board members and senior administrators this workshop is part of a series designed to strengthen governance and management in the not-for-profit sector.
Michelle Podhy and Lori Huber from the local KPMG office will facilitate. Podhy has 29 years of public accounting experience in the non-profit sector, and Huber has been an auditor for 11 years, working with both large and small organizations. Both facilitators will provide participants with a general overview of the financial responsibility of board members, financial strategies, budgets and expenditures, and how to effectively read financial statements.
The cost for this workshop is $25 per person and registration is required.

Public workshops are facilitated by volunteers from United Way’s LDS program. LDS is a capacity building initiative that helps non-profit organizations deal with the ever changing landscape of the volunteer sector.
