Novelis aims to unite globally and impact locally during its companywide month of service
KINGSTON, ONT. / October 28, 2013 – Novelis, the world’s premier producer of rolled aluminum and the global leader in aluminum recycling, will be impacting the Kingston community this month as part of the company’s global One Novelis volunteer month. As Novelis is planning large-scale volunteer projects in all major locations, the United Way KFL&A has helped Novelis identify a local project in the Kingston community. With Novelis’ support, Home Base Housing, a United Way funded agency, will receive help with the renovations at their new location at 540 Montreal Street.
Volunteers from Novelis will spend the week of October 29th helping to renovate the building that will co-locate the Housing Help Centre, In From the Cold Emergency Shelter, Administrative Offices, 7 affordable housing offices and the Independent Living Centre Kingston.
“We look forward to our upcoming volunteer project in partnership with United Way and Home Base Housing,” Audethy Tallack, the Novelis Neighbour Site Champion for Kingston, says. “The Novelis Neighbour program focuses on improving the quality of life for our employees and their families, the communities where we operate, and society as a whole.”
“We are very grateful that the United Way connected us with Novelis so that we could partner on this project,” says Nicki Diak, Project Manager at Home Base Housing. “The new location will help Home Base Housing to enhance services and increase the number of beds available at the In From the Cold Shelter and streamline services by having the Housing help Centre and outreach services at the same location. Having volunteers help us with this is wonderful ”
