United Way KFL&A 2023 Campaign exceeds goal raising over $3.9 million 83rd annual fundraising campaign also surpasses $100 million raised for community since 1941

KINGSTON, ON (Nov. 24, 2023) The annual United Way campaign has surpassed the 2023 campaign goal! United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington  announced this morning that the 11-week campaign has raised $3,920,000, surpassing the goal of $3,820,000 million announced in early September.

2023 Campaign Chair, Brigadier General Sonny Hatton, made the announcement during a campaign touchdown event with approximately 250 volunteers in attendance at St. Lawrence College. This achievement will enable agencies to continue to do the important and essential work that is needed in the KFL&A community.

“This amazing community continues to step up and show their support,” General Hatton said. “Thank you to all the volunteers, workplaces, and individuals for their donations and for their time holding events and raising awareness. It was great to see so many people coming together, coming up with creative ways to get involved and really showing that the community is stronger together. This achievement is not possible without you.”

The campaign received a big boost through generous matching grants from Ray and Paul Di Rinaldo of RDR Wealth Management, with the Leadership Challenge Grant, and from Jessica Bayne Hogan with the Women United Leadership Challenge Grant. Their respective support matched new leadership donors (those who give $1,200 or more) and boosted existing “leaders” who increased their donations by 10 per cent or more over the previous year.

“Thanks to Ray, Paul, and Jessica, for continuing to demonstrate an incredible level of commitment to the United Way through their leadership, volunteering and financial contributions,” added General Hatton. “Together, the Leadership Challenge Grants helped our community reach its goal.”

This year’s campaign also marked a milestone achievement for United Way KFL&A, surpassing over $100 million raised since the local United Way was founded in 1941.

“This is an incredible achievement for this community,” added General Hatton. “So many lives have been changed thanks to these funds and the support of the community.”

The funds raised through the 2023 campaign will be distributed to local agencies immediately and volunteers have been hard at work on the allocations process. Funds will be stretched this year as United Way KFL&A continues to work closely with local partners to tackle their immediate needs. United Way volunteers focus on programs that address the growing areas of need in the community, such as food security, mental health and addictions support, and homelessness.

“Thank you to all the United Way agencies for their hard work, dedication, and support during the campaign and to my fellow volunteers on the cabinet, working to ensure our community achieved this year’s goal, and to the committee members working to make sure the funds are allocated where they need to be,” said General Hatton. “There is still significant need in our community and these needs will continue. With your support we can get through it together.”
