Tim Hortons announces first-ever national Holiday Smile Cookie campaign with local proceeds donated to United Way KFL&A
100 per cent of proceeds will be donated to local charities and community groups across Canada, including Tim Hortons Foundation Camps

Kingston, ON (November 9, 2023) – From Nov. 13 to Nov. 19, Tim Hortons is kicking off the holiday season with smiles and kindness with its first ever national Holiday Smile Cookie campaign, where 100 per cent of proceeds are donated to local charities and community groups across Canada, including Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

“For over 25 years, our guests have enjoyed rallying with us during every Smile Cookie campaign to raise important funds for charities and community groups close to home,” says Hope Bagozzi, Chief Marketing Officer at Tim Hortons. “We decided there’s no better time than the holiday season to continue this tradition in a new way. We know our guests across Canada will be thrilled to help us support the spirit of kindness this holiday season.”

Here in Kingston, the new Holiday Smile Cookie will support United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington.

“The local Tim Hortons owners were unanimous in choosing the United Way KFL&A as our charity for the first ever Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign. We know that the United Way focuses on the most vulnerable members of our community by funding programs and local agencies, and we are thrilled to support the important work that they do to support individuals and families locally,” said Leanne O’Mara, local Tim Hortons owner. “Smile Cookies are always a big hit in our community and we hope people will try the new cookies and spread kindness this holiday season – all in support of a great cause!”

The new Holiday Smile Cookie is a delicious, white chocolate chip sugar cookie that’s infused with red and green sprinkles and adorned with a hand-decorated smile. Cookies are $1.50 and will be available at stores across Kingston with proceeds supporting this year’s United Way campaign as it heads into the final weeks with a goal of $3,820,000.

“United Way KFL&A is very excited to be the recipients of the Holiday Smile Cookie campaign here in Kingston. We are blessed with local owners who are involved with the United Way and want to get involved to help our community members here in Kingston. A special thanks to Tim Hortons for continuing to give back to charities across Canada,” said Col. Sonny Hatton, 2023 United Way KFL&A Campaign Chair. “We have no doubt that workplaces, organizations and community members will show their support. We are in the home stretch of this year’s campaign and our community continues to show that we are stronger together when it comes to supporting each other and reaching this year’s goal.”

Last year, over 54,000 people were helped through United Way funded programs and agencies including community members and families facing poverty, food insecurity, mental illness, addictions, family crisis and homelessness. Funds raised through the Holiday Smile Cookie campaign will help United Way KFL&A continue this important work.
