Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington Volunteer Week Awards
During National Volunteer Week, United Way Volunteer Services will honour some of the people in our community who donate their time and energy to their fellow citizens. We hope to profile the important role that volunteers play in our lives, our communities and our country.
This year there will be a special breakfast and awards to celebrate our community’s volunteers. This event, taking place on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, Davies Hall, St. Lawrence College, 7:00am to 8:30am, will feature Craig Kielburger, highly sought speaker and founder of Free the Children. The event and awards are proudly sponsored by Investors Group.
Individuals from Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington will be selected to receive a “Volunteers Grow Community” Award at the breakfast event for their significant contribution to the community through volunteerism.
Who is Eligible to be Nominated: Anyone who has volunteered during the past year for a local not-for-profit organization or group. These include:
- Charitable Agencies
- Hospitals
- Schools
- Sports Leagues
- Religious Institutions
- Community Centres
- Long-term Care Facilities
- Research Facilities
- Arts, Cultural Organizations
Some Examples of Significant Volunteer Contributions:
- Organized a major fundraiser or special event
- Led an initiative of significant change or impact
- Mentored, Coached, Delivered or Coordinated Programming
- Provided leadership within a non-profit Board or Committee
- Continued Length of Service
(2+ years service for those up to age 24; and 5+ years service for those 25 years and older)
