Successful event returns to raise funds for the United Way
United Way Next Gen’s signature event, Sociable returns on April 6 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Grand Theatre. Next Gen Sociable is an event that provides an afternoon of celebration, offering sampling of specialty beer and whisky with live entertainment. Tickets are available for purchase at The Grand Theatre Box Office.
This year there are eight breweries providing approximately 20 varieties of beer and a tasting range of six unique whiskies, including one special surprise whisky. Beverage and food vendors will offer tastings while local bands provide live entertainment. Next Gen Sociable will also feature beer and whisky connoisseurs who will provide specialized information sessions to enhance your tasting experience. Special hors d’ouevres will be available at a low price, provided by Dream Come True Kitchen, a local gourmet catering company.
“Next Gen Sociable is a unique event in the Kingston community.” says Shawn Whalen, Next Gen Chair, “It’s an opportunity for people to get together with their friends and have a good time while supporting a great cause. We hope Sociable can help raise awareness for United Way and the Next Gen initiative.”
Last year this event had more than 300 people in attendance and raised over $9,000 for United Way KFL&A.
Tickets are $25 (plus applicable taxes and fees) and can be purchased at The Grand Theatre box office by phone, 613-530-2050, and online at www.kingstongrand.ca. Tickets include admittance to the event and 5 sampling tickets. For more information about Next Gen or this event, call United Way at 613-542-2674 or visit www.NextGenSociable.ca.
Next Gen Sociable is sponsored by the Thousand Island Playhouse, Empire Life and the City of Kingston. Whisky tastings are sponsored by Cancoil Thermal Corporation, Sir John’s Public House and David Illingworth – Edward Jones Investments.
