Successful event returns on the May long weekend
United Way Next Gen’s signature event, Next Gen Sociable returns on Sunday, May 18, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Four Points By Sheraton Kingston. Next Gen Sociable provides a unique chance to sample specialty beer and whisky from around the globe while enjoying live entertainment. Tickets are available at www.NextGenSociable.ca.
This year there are eight breweries providing approximately 20 varieties of beer and a tasting range of six unique whiskies, including one special surprise whisky. Beverage vendors will offer tastings while local musicians provide live entertainment. The event features beer and whisky connoisseurs who will provide specialized information sessions to enhance your tasting experience.
Organized by United Way Next Gen volunteers, this event has raised $17,500 in the three years it has run. The United Way Next Gen initiative focuses on developing a community of younger stakeholders (in their twenties and thirties) and encouraging them to invest their time, energy and money in the community through the United Way. This initiative creates opportunities for future leaders to participate in the community and advance the impact of the United Way locally. Visit www.unitedwaykfla.ca/nextgen for more information.
“It’s a great opportunity for people to get together with their friends during the holiday weekend and have a good time while supporting a great cause,” says David Illingworth, Next Gen Event Co-Chair. “We’ve got a great variety of beverages and food for guests to sample. Two breweries will be bringing new releases to Next Gen Sociable and we have a very special surprise exclusive whisky again this year.”
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.NextGenSociable.ca. Tickets include admittance to the event and 5 sampling tickets. For more information about Next Gen or this event, call United Way at 613-542-2674 or visit www.NextGenSociable.ca.
Next Gen Sociable Whisky tastings are sponsored by Cancoil Thermal Corporation, Sir John’s Public House and David Illingworth – Edward Jones Investments.
This is the third annual Next Gen Sociable. In 2013, Next Gen Sociable had 250 guests and raised over $8,500 to support the United Way of KFL&A.
