Record number of events taking place across KFLA from May 3-11
Kingston, ON (April 28, 2014) – United Way Success By 6 Week is set to mark its eighth anniversary in KFLA from May 3 to May 11. This fun-filled week of events and activities is designed with the youngest members of our community in mind with an emphasis on “Making KFLA Child-Friendly”.
Over the past eight years, this event has grown in popularity. This year, Success by 6 Week is hosting a record 172 no-cost or low-cost activities.
Success By 6 Week is designed to heighten public awareness of the importance of early years development and provide opportunities for young children, their families and caregivers to “Take the Time, Make the Moments Matter™”. The City of Kingston and the Counties of Frontenac and Lennox & Addington have officially proclaimed May 3 to 11, 2014 as Success By 6 Week. A volunteer committee has been working since early January to plan the event, building on the success and participation of previous years.
“We know that when children receive the right nutrition, nurturing and care in the first six years, the results can be incredible,” says Bhavana Varma, President & CEO, United Way of KFLA. “The first six years in a child’s life are the most important. “Thank you to our co-chairs, committee and participating organizations for making early years a priority.”
Several businesses and organizations in the region have come on board with exciting new events this year, offering their space and time to make Success By 6 Week another great event for young children in our community.
Success By 6 Week will feature a variety of events under 6 categories – physical activities, learning activities, entertainment, environment, drop-ins & play groups and fun activities. Returning favourites include a Story Time with Franklin the Turtle, Dipping for Pond Creatures, free child-friendly movie, free parent and tot swims, and yoga.
