Fare for Friends raised $76,000

Jennifer Moon (left), from Card’s Bakery, and Krista Veryzer, from Cakes by Krista, load up their display with a number of delicious chocolate zucchini squares, raspberry Swiss and German chocolate cupcakes during Fare for Friends one of the largest fundraising events for the United Way held Sunday, Sept. 9 at the Vimy Officers’ Mess, Canadian Forces Base Kingston. The unforgettable garden party featuring an afternoon of fine wine, exceptional food and live entertainment from a record breaking 27 local restaurants and 18 wineries and breweries raised over $76,000 for the United Way. Over the past 18 years, Fare For Friends has raised over $1 million dollars.

United Way of KFL&A would like to acknowledge this traditional territory’s longer existence and its significance for the Indigenous people who lived and continue to live on Turtle Island.

We are situated on traditional Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat land. There are Métis and other non-status First People from many Indigenous Nations present in our community today. This acknowledgement symbolizes the United Way KFL&A’s first step, of many, along this path toward Indigenous reconciliation, in a respectful manner.
