Day of Caring

DOC-LOGO-2012-w-UW-logo-smallDay of Caring is a community-wide United Way event that demonstrates the power of volunteering. Participants take on light construction, gardening and maintenance tasks while gaining behind-the-scenes insight into the work of local agencies. It’s a win-win for all; much needed projects are completed for agencies and volunteers learn about their community through a hands-on experience.

DAY OF CARING – June 8th, 2018

In 2017, over 200 volunteers from 20 workplaces signed up to spend the day at 24 different sites.

Committee chair, Michele Finney, says, “The Day of Caring gives workplace teams and volunteers the chance to give back to local agencies that are meeting immediate needs within our local community every day.  Whether the teams are gardening, painting, or doing repairs around the office, each project goes a long way in refreshing agency premises and improving the environment for people accessing programs.”

Day of Caring was introduced to KFL&A in 2001. Since then, 14,400 volunteer hours have been invested in 345 projects. Day of Caring showcases our communities’ volunteer efforts and promotes the spirit of caring.
