United Way Day of Caring volunteers give back to community

Annual Day of Caring takes place on June 9th, 2023

KINGSTON, ON (June 8th, 2023) –United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington’s annual Day of Caring takes place on Friday, June 9th. This year, over 400 volunteers from 31 workplaces will be tackling projects at 41 local agencies throughout KFL&A.

United Way Day of Caring sends volunteer teams from local organizations to provide much needed assistance to local agencies through projects. These include repair work, gardening, painting, and cleaning. The day is organized by a volunteer committee that has been hard at work for months, identifying projects, recruiting teams, organizing equipment and materials.

“We are excited for another amazing Day of Caring and the volunteer response has been incredible this year – lots of workplaces and individuals eager to take part,” says Michele Finney, Chair of the United Way Day of Caring Committee. “Day of Caring is a great opportunity for volunteers to learn more about agencies in their community and see firsthand what they do to help individuals.”

United Way Day of Caring was introduced to KFL&A in 2001. Since then, thousands of volunteer hours have been invested in hundreds of projects in the region.

This year, the day begins at 8 a.m. with a kick-off event (until 8:30 a.m.) at the Community Food Redistribution Warehouse (785 Sir John A. Macdonald Blvd.) Teams of volunteers will work throughout the morning and then gather at the Army Navy Airforce Club (317 Gore Rd.) from noon onwards for a wrap-up BBQ.

Organizers continue to monitor air quality to ensure the health and safety of all participants.

Please note, a full list of projects and addresses is attached below to help plan coverage.
