Highlights from the Week
$3 million!
With just over a month to go, the United Way KFL&A campaign has reached another milestone – less than $1 million left to get to this year’s goal! A big shout out and thank you again to the incredible KFL&A community for the amazing progress towards this year’s community fundraising goal.
Winter Clothing Drive
The Winter Clothing Drive continues until Nov. 5. Special thanks again to our partners at Kingston Frontenac Public Library and Lennox and Addington Public Libraries for offering their space for collection and thanks to the teams at Lionhearts, Martha’s Table and St. Vincent de Paul picking up at these locations throughout the drive. Also, thanks to the Rotary Club in Kingston for helping recruit volunteers to sort as items come in.
Workplaces and community members are asked to donate clean, new or gently used coats and boots (coats must be washable only; no leather or heavy wool) and new accessories including new hats, mitts, scarves and socks. Items can be dropped off to collection bins throughout KFL&A from October 25 – November 5.
Currently, adult coats are most needed.

Empire Life virtual cooking classes
A big shout out to the team at Empire Life for getting creative with their campaign fundraisers. In the past week they have had two virtual cooking classes for staff to take part in with proceeds to their United Way campaign. What a great idea and a great way to interact safely. The dishes look great!
City of Kingston Clothing Drive collection
A big shout out and thank you to the team at the City of Kingston for collecting and dropping off hundreds of items for the Winter Clothing Drive. Truly #locallove in action in our community!

United Way of KFL&A would like to acknowledge this traditional territory’s longer existence and its significance for the Indigenous people who lived and continue to live on Turtle Island.
We are situated on traditional Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat land. There are Métis and other non-status First People from many Indigenous Nations present in our community today. This acknowledgement symbolizes the United Way KFL&A’s first step, of many, along this path toward Indigenous reconciliation, in a respectful manner.
