Highlights from the Week

Winter Clothing Drive Success

A big shout out and thank you to everyone who ran collection drives and donated to The Winter Clothing Drive this year – as a community over 1,100 items were donated!

Special thanks to our partners at Kingston Frontenac Public Library and Lennox and Addington Public Libraries for offering their space for collection and thanks to the teams at Lionhearts, Martha’s Table and St. Vincent de Paul picking up at these locations throughout the drive. Also, thanks to the Rotary Club in Kingston for helping recruit volunteers to sort as items came in.

Items are now being distributed to agencies who can then help their program users. If you weren’t able to donate during the drive, but would still like to, items can be dropped off at the United Way KFL&A office, 417 Bagot Street (back entrance).

MNP campaign a success

A big shout out and thank you to the team at MNP. They wrapped up their United Way of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington campaign for 2021 and raised nearly three times their goal! To get there, they hosted food truck lunches, paint nights & internal events – great job! Thanks so much for the amazing #locallove and support. And shout out to The Grocery Basket and Tie One On Creativity Bar for helping with their events!

Shoutouts to Empire Life and Goodyear

A big campaign shoutout to both Empire Life and Goodyear for both surpassing their fundraising goals for this year’s campaign! Both workplaces worked hard to show their #locallove and support through internal events and employee giving! Shoutout to all volunteers and supporters – thanks so much for the continued support.

What: Daren Dougall, 2021 United Way Campaign Chair, would like to invite you to the 2021 Campaign Touchdown celebrations, featuring the Town Crier, messages from local leaders and agencies, and the all-important number reveal!
Where: Although we can’t gather for breakfast, please join us for a virtual celebration. Join this live virtual event by registering online https://touchdown-2021.eventbrite.ca

United Way of KFL&A would like to acknowledge this traditional territory’s longer existence and its significance for the Indigenous people who lived and continue to live on Turtle Island.

We are situated on traditional Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat land. There are Métis and other non-status First People from many Indigenous Nations present in our community today. This acknowledgement symbolizes the United Way KFL&A’s first step, of many, along this path toward Indigenous reconciliation, in a respectful manner.
