United Way KFL&A 2024 Campaign raises over $4 million
Thanks to generosity of community, fundraising campaign announces historic achievement
KINGSTON, ON (Nov. 28, 2024) The annual United Way campaign has surpassed the 2024 campaign goal! United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington announced this morning that the annual campaign has raised a historic $4,050,000 surpassing the goal of $3,950,000 million announced in early September and crossing the $4 million mark for the first time.
2024 Campaign Chair, Joanne Langlois, made the announcement during a campaign touchdown event with approximately 250 volunteers and community members in attendance at St. Lawrence College. This achievement will enable agencies to continue to do the important and essential work that is needed in the KFL&A community.
“This amazing community continues to show what they can do,” Langlois said. “Thank you to all the volunteers, workplaces, and individuals for their donations and for their time holding events and raising awareness. It was great to see so many people coming together and coming up with creative ways to get involved. This achievement is incredible for our community and wouldn’t be possible without everyone in the community stepping up and showing that we are stronger together.”
The campaign received a big boost through generous matching grants from The Britton Smith Foundation, with the Leadership Challenge Grant, and from Judith Gould with the Women United Leadership Challenge Grant. Their respective support matched new leadership donors (those who give $1,200 or more) and boosted existing “leaders” who increased their donations by 10 per cent or more over the previous year.
“Thanks to The Britton Smith Foundation, and Judith Gould, for continuing to show an incredible level of commitment to the United Way through their leadership,” added Langlois. “Together, the Leadership Challenge Grants helped our community surpass this year’s goal.”
This year’s campaign also marked a milestone achievement for United Way KFL&A, surpassing over $4 million for the first time.
“This is an incredible achievement for this community,” added Langlois. “We know the needs are great and this will help agencies and programs continue to provide their essential services.”
The funds raised through the 2024 campaign will be distributed to local agencies immediately and volunteers have been hard at work on the allocation process. Funds will be stretched this year as United Way KFL&A continues to work closely with local partners to tackle their immediate needs. United Way volunteers focus on programs that address the growing areas of need in the community, such as food security, mental health and addictions support, and homelessness.
“Thank you to all the United Way agencies for their hard work, dedication, and support. And to the amazing volunteers on the cabinet, working to ensure our community achieved this year’s goal, United Way staff and to the committee members working to make sure the funds are allocated where they need to be – thank you,” said Langlois. “There is still significant need in our community and these needs will continue. With your support we can continue to be there for each other.”

United Way of KFL&A would like to acknowledge this traditional territory’s longer existence and its significance for the Indigenous people who lived and continue to live on Turtle Island.
We are situated on traditional Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat land. There are Métis and other non-status First People from many Indigenous Nations present in our community today. This acknowledgement symbolizes the United Way KFL&A’s first step, of many, along this path toward Indigenous reconciliation, in a respectful manner.
