United Way Day of Caring volunteers give back to community
Annual Day of Caring takes place on Friday June 5th, 2026
KINGSTON, ON (June 4th, 2026) –United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington’s annual Day of Caring takes place on Friday, June 5th. Thanks to Platinum sponsor, TD, this year, over 520 volunteers from 38 workplaces will be tackling projects at 50 local agencies sites throughout KFL&A.
United Way Day of Caring sends volunteer teams from local organizations to provide much needed assistance to local agencies through projects. These include repair work, gardening, painting, and cleaning. The day is organized by a volunteer committee that has been hard at work for months, identifying projects, recruiting teams, organizing equipment and materials.
“Once again, we are excited for another amazing Day of Caring! We have had a steady increase in volunteer response over the last 3 years and this year is no different with over 500 individuals eager to roll up their sleeves and pitch in,” says Kim Peachey, Chair of the United Way Day of Caring Committee. “This day offers a unique opportunity for the volunteers to get out of their work space and into the community to learn about the services and programs that were provided to more than 54,000 people in our community over the last year. The agencies also benefit from having some light work completed on their sites that they do not have the time or finances to do themselves. It is a well earned thank you for the support they provide to the community every day.”
United Way Day of Caring has been running in the KFL&A community for more than 25 years. In that time, thousands of volunteer hours have been invested in hundreds of projects in the region.
This year, the day begins at 8 a.m. with a kick-off event (until 8:30 a.m.) at the Community Food Redistribution Warehouse (779 Sir John A. Macdonald Blvd.) Teams of volunteers will work throughout the morning and then gather at Lake Ontario Park (920 King Street W.) in the afternoon for a wrap-up BBQ.
Please note, a full list of projects and addresses is attached below to help plan coverage.
