United Way celebrates workplace volunteers, the driving force behind the campaign
Kingston, ON (April 29, 2026) United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington is proud to recognize the dedicated workplace volunteers who made a meaningful impact during the 2025 campaign. The annual Workplace Awards Luncheon was held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Quality Inn & Conference Centre, with generous sponsorship from CIBC Wood Gundy (Platinum Sponsor) and Doane Grant Thornton (Silver Sponsor).
The event recognized and honoured the achievements of workplace campaigns in KFL&A. In 2025, workplace campaigns made up 57 per cent of the campaign dollars.
“Volunteers are at the heart of the campaign’s success, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who gives their time and talent to United Way,” said Leanne O’Mara, 2025 United Way KFL&A Campaign Chair. “We thank all those who supported workplace campaigns and events. This gathering is a chance to celebrate their dedication and recognize the meaningful impact each workplace and individual has made in our community.”
The 2026 event saw several awards handed out including Participation Awards, Achievement Awards, special awards for first time campaigns, Champion Awards and recognition for local labour and media partners. Workplaces were also recognized with Britton Smith Leadership Awards, in recognition of long-time United Way supporter and philanthropist A. Britton Smith.
The “Voice of Community Award” in memory of Greg Hinton was also handed out, an award recognizing a member of the United Way’s Speakers Bureau, which is made up of agency volunteers and staff who make presentations in workplaces.
There were also some new awards this year – Changing our Tomorrow Awards recognizing agencies in the community who contributed in various ways and a Spirit of Partnership Award, recognizing organizations for in-kind contributions.
