Volunteers on the Coffee Cart|Snack Cart prepare and provide tea and coffee service and sale of snacks in out-patient clinic waiting areas, as well as waiting areas for the emergency room, operating room, and cancer clinic at the KGH site.
Purpose: in addition to raising funds through this service, volunteers provide comfort drinks/snacks and create a pleasant atmosphere for patients and families who may, for example, be waiting to be called for their appointment or waiting for a physician update following a surgery.
Requirements: Coffee|Snack Cart volunteers must have good customer service skills, be able to accurately handle cash transactions and complete a tracking form, and be comfortable navigating a heavy cart throughout many areas of the hospital.
All hospital volunteers must respect confidentiality and diversity, follow policies & procedures, be accountable and reliable, be encouraging and supportive of creativity and change, able to follow direction and to ask questions if unsure of tasks.
Volunteer Shifts: Weekday mornings and afternoons
KGH site: 9:30-11:30 and 1:30-3:30
HDH site: 9:00-11:30 and 1:00-3:00
It is expected that a volunteer will commitment to one shift per week. This is determined at the placement stage of the intake process and is based on program vacancies and volunteer availability.
