About Youth United
Youth United provides meaningful engagement opportunities for youth in KFL&A to learn more about United Way and give back to their community. High-school students will be invited to raise funds for our community with their friends and classmates. For every $25 raised each Youth United registrant will get an entry into a random draw to win an iPad. At the end of the fundraising cycle a smaller group of Youth United members will have the opportunity to decide where these funds are invested in the KFL&A community.

How it works
Youth United members will work as a team or individually to fundraise for their community. Youth United members/teams will come up with fundraising ideas and work to engage their peers, raising as much as they can. For every $25 raised each Youth United member will get an entry into a random draw to win an iPad
After funds are raised, students will learn about where these funds can be allocated – hearing from agencies and programs across KFL&A. Youth United Members will then decide where their funds will be distributed creating lasting impact in our community.
How to get involved

Wear your Youth United hoodie and share with friends and family members why you are supporting Youth United.
Offer to join a small team of Youth United members to help decide where the funds raised will be invested in our community.
Track your volunteer time raising money and helping to decide where the funds will be invested in the community – to help you achieve your goal of 40 hours of volunteer time for graduation.
'Fun'draising ideas
- Dress Down - theme days, pyjama day, sports jersey, pay to dress down
- Snack or bake sales - bring in homemade bakes goods or snacks and sell at lunch or after school events
- Trivia or game days - host a trivia competition or board game competition with a small entry fee and prizes
- “Change for Change” coin drive - decorate jars for classrooms where staff and students can leave their spare change (create classroom vs. classroom competitions)
- Host a talent show, open mic or Battle of the Bands - Students can showcase their talents (music, dancing, etc.) and charge a small entry fee
- “Skip it for United Way” Challenge - encourage students to ‘skip’ buying lunch or coffee for one day and instead donate the $$ to United Way
- Dunk tank or Pie in the Face - raise funds to dunk or put a pie in the face of a teacher, principal, other students

Youth United Matching Grant
All funds raised by students will be matched by a generous grant from RDR Wealth Management, allowing their funds to make even more of an impact.
