Learn the Roles and Responsibilities of the Board
Public workshop open to non-profit organizations in KFL&A

KINGSTON, Ont. (Feb. 21, 2012) – United Way Leadership Development Services (LDS) will host a workshop on Introduction to Roles and Responsibilities of the Board on Wednesday, March 14th.  This introductory workshop provides a basic understanding of what is required for strong board governance. It is an essential workshop for first time directors and current directors looking for a refresher.

This workshop will be facilitated by Bhavana Varma , President & CEO, United Way KFLA and is open to board members and senior administrators from any non-profit organizations in the region.

The workshop will be held at the Ongwanada Auditorium, 191 Portsmouth Avenue, Kingston from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Participants will learn to:

  • Define the role of their board
  • Identify the board model that works best for their organization
  • Identify and describe five primary board responsibilities
  • Understand the roles of the Board and Executive Director/CEO

The cost for this workshop is $25 per person and registration is required.

The registration deadline is Monday, March 12, 2012.  Spaces are limited. Registration is limited to two registrations per organization.

About the Facilitator:
Bhavana Varma President & CEO of United Way serving KFL&A
Bhavana Varma has been with the United Way movement since 1990. She worked with the United Way in St. Catharines and joined the United Way in Kingston in 1999. She works closely with a large team of volunteers and a small team of staff on fundraising and community development. Bhavana is a trained facilitator and has facilitated numerous board governance workshops, planning and analysis sessions.
