Leadership giving is an important part of United Way employee campaigns in all workplace campaigns. A Leadership campaign promotes and recognizes personal contributions from Leaders of the Way, who donate $1,000 or more to United Way.

Leadership gifts accounted for 27% of United Way’s annual achievement in 2010. 500 Leaders of the Way contributed $900,000 in 2010. 

All individuals contributing gifts of $1,000 or more to United Way serving KFL&A are recognized in United Way’s Honour Roll.

• Leader $1000 - $1,999
• Builder $2,000 - $4,999
• Pacesetter $5,000 - $9,999
• Patrons $10,000 - $24,999
• Philanthropists $25,000 +

Leadership donors are invited to indicate on their pledge card whether or not they wish to be recognized in the Honour Roll. The names of donors who prefer to remain anonymous will not appear.

A volunteer Leadership Campaign Chair, spearheading the Leadership giving program for their organization, can provide the coordination and leadership required to ensure the success of the Leadership giving program.  The Leadership Chair Guide will give you the information you need to run a Leadership campaign. It provides an outline of your role as Leadership Campaign Chairs and tools to help you be successful. Your United Way staff partner will also be a valuable resource in helping you plan and execute your campaign.

Leadership Challenge Grant

The Leadership Challenge Grant helps Leadership donors increase the impact of their gifts. 

New Leadership Donors

• By becoming a new Leadership donor, you double the impact of your gift.
• Every first-time donation of $1,000 or more to the United Way will be matched dollar-for-dollar.
• Increase your gift to $1,000 this year and the Leadership Challenge Grant will match your $1,000 donation dollar-for-dollar.

Renewing Leadership Donors

•  If you are already a Leader and you add 10% or more to your gift this year, the Leadership Challenge Grant will match your increase.

Leadership Presentations

You can invite a community leader to speak to your colleagues about why they choose to give as a Leader of the Way. These individuals are willing to come to your organization and talk about United Way and why they support us. Organizations that participated in this program last year saw significant increases in their campaign results.
